A Roadside Care Package

A little while back I was headed out the door to attend a family event. As I went to hop in my mom's car I noticed I had a package so I snatched it up. I brought it with because I saw it was from my good friend Roadside Marty. He said he would send me a surprise in the mail so I figured it was a sweet motorcycle part. We headed down the road and a quickly opened up my present to see what was inside. I pulled out this marvelous glowing jar of Moonshine! My mother didn't know what to think.... but after all these years she is just used to things like this.... she was just worried we would get pulled over and arrested for Moonshine'n. "Oh.... you and your motorcycle friends"

It's some great moonshine..... I know some people may have their thoughts about fruit flavored shine and I've have my fare share of Tennessee clear but this is some damn good stuff. It'll jack you around really quick like.

I'm just waiting for the perfect occasion

Thanks Roadside!

Roadside is a great guy and I'm glad to have him as a friend. He has been around bikes his entire life. I hear his dad has a stash like you wouldn't believe. I just talked to him today and he said he had some major issues going on..... He couldn't decide whether to work on his Knuckle or Pan today. I wish I had his problems.

Roadside has just started a blog as well. See it here. Flat Broke Customs

Parts Load

I caught wind that a friend of a friend had just bought what might be a load of K model sportster parts. Naturally my ears perked up and expressed interest. I went to look at the pile and it turned out not to be K model parts but a good amount of interesting ironhead parts. I got hooked up with a bro deal.... I payed what he payed minus a magneto and Warbird taillight. Apparently it all came out of the rafters of a body shop that in the 70's was a bike shop. During the conversion they just threw everything in the addict and forgot about it. It seems they were into drag racing sporties because there was a lot of go fast stuff in the pile. Stroker flywheels, stroker pushrods, Andrews cam sets, fuel injection, belt drive primary set ups and lots of aluminium.

The load..... The shop is in disarray at the moment..... My dad is trying to sort through his load of machining tools.

Some big twin stuff as well..... Panhead tins and a sweet chrome fender.

Fuel injection? and an oil bag only a drag racer would love.

Belt drive set ups for Sporties

Magneto covers

Lots of NOS Harley engine parts. Valves, pinion shafts and on and on and on.

Grips anyone?

I'm trying to get it all organized.

Rainy day music

Dan Auerback from the Black Keys put out a solo album a ways back and it is dominating my airwaves on these rainy days. Perfect season music, check it out.

Rise and shine

Who doesn't like a little Bacon first thing in the morning. Favorite knuckle out there, all business and runs like a top. Had a blast running side by side with him this summer, see you next week pal.

Brobeck

I was lurking around the interweb and found the picture of our friend Cary Brobeck. It moved me..........

I shot this picture about a year ago. Matt Davis, Cary and I rode up to Malibu and rode up and down the mountain cliff. At times it was as if you were going to ride right into the ocean. It was one of the most amazing roads I have ever ridden on. Matt let me ride a 77" FLH he had just picked up. The thing was so low you couldn't even take a gentle turn without scraping the floorboards on the pavement. Matt was like "take it easy on my floorboards Mate!" Then takes me down a road with the sharpest turns he could find.

Indian Summer

I couldn't believe how nice it was when I woke up today. I had no plans for riding but shit... around here ride'm while you got'm. No destination just ride'n because you know the end is coming and riding harder then you ever have before because it doesn't matter.... you are about to disassemble it for the winter anyway. You actually hope to break something so you have something to fix to keep your mind away from the gun during the dark winter months. I didn't even need a leather jacket.... it was a perfect ride. I didn't even get pulled over riding through town..... although it was close...... she changed her mind when finally found my licence plate. It was a good day. Then I heard the forecaster say our Indian Summer would be gone by the time the sun set.

Take'n Sis for a ride. She says it's really wobbly and scary but lots of fun.

After a little ride we had a Boston Tea Party

Kemosabe handles with care.

Yesterday I drove out to Detroit to pick up a bike for Dave Polgreen. I left the city at about one o'clock pm threw the FXR in the back of the truck and was back home by one o'clock am. Pretty uneventful however I did watch as the front tire of a late 80's Ford Tempo delaminated and ripped apart the entire front end of the car. I was dodging pieces of headlights, hubcaps, bumper shrapnel, rubber, Ford emblems and I'm sure a plethora cuss words. I couldn't help but laugh at this guys awful situation..... it brought me back to my High School days. Pick'n up dem lady's in my rusted out 89" Ford Tempo.

A cleaner Peter

After I shot Brian's pan on Monday I stopped by the shop. I was surprised to see how clean and tighty Slippery Pete's workspace was..... however his mouth is still filthy. Pete has been working with an ol' timer on the southside and I think some of his wisdom is wearing of on him. He's Genni Shovel is finally coming together.

Pete's abnormally clean workspace.

A shovelhead Line-up.... they are all guilty Genni, Cone....... Pan

Tear it down

Brian and Mitch were to busy bong shopping Sunday to ride out to my place so I could shoot the minnow. So I had to take up the slack and drive to the city to do the shoot. I stayed the night in Chicago then headed to Detroit this afternoon to pick up an FXR for Dave Polgreen that he had just snatched up on Craigslist. A long day of driving.... I'll post more tomorrow.

PP build-off progress

I've decided to go with a One-Hitter design for my build. Here's Ratchet with the donor basis that we wrassled from a Dollar Store window. Lost an arm and the taped on wig in the struggle but I think we can salvage the parts we need from the little guy. Remember Mitch, this is a contest but at the end of it all I'm giving you a gift. Who doesn't want a child looking up at them as they partake?

Wyzzyrd

Just a lil introduction for this dude - I've been working on a Halloween -inspired "10Pan Alley" episode and this dude, Wyzzyrd, is in it playing it cool while dealing with some usavory types.

Anyway, his character is kind of a Gandalf the Grey meets Terry the Tramp with a touch of The Dude thrown in there somewhere. Crazy shit always happens around him, but you're not really sure if it's reality or a trip.
The official spelling of his name has never been known. He's always so out there and the people around him are kinda out there too, by proximity. So the proper spelling? It's been lost in every form of it's translation; always changing but always sounding the same. Hell! So is the way I draw him.

If I wanted to give more fuckin offerings to Velcroass, the God of Procrastination, I could have sat on all of this shit for a few more years till I was completely satisfied on the character and the way I draw (any of) em.

I'd rather share it.

Brian's First Triumph

I just stole these from the Jr Cycle Product Blog. I never got the chance to see this bike as he brought it through the garage doors and quickly tour it apart. I had only heard stories. What the hell Brian? You should have left it the way it was. Must have been scared to ride a long bike.

Thomas Hart Benton

Harlan turned me onto Thomas Hart Benton's work and I can't get enough of it. He had a 40 foot THB mural in his old house that he had to paint over when he sold the place. Who wouldn't want to look at these lines every morning when they wake up?
