.....at The Little Longhorn Saloon.

While in Austin we all met up with Dale Watson for lunch. He was going be playing at the Little Longhorn Saloon later that afternoon so we followed him to the north end of town and checked it out. Free Hot Dogs.... Great Music.. and a chance to win cash playing Chicken Shit Bingo. Yep... if the chicken shits on your number you get the pot.

The Ride There

It was written in stone before the bikes came apart last winter. The break-in ride for most of the guys at Bravetown would be in May and the Kentucky Derby would be the destination. We were headed right into the heart of Brad's hometown. There was no plan but to get down there..... party Friday night and all day and night Saturday before leaving Sunday morning. The weather was looking grim but we headed into the clouds anyway.

Brad lost a belt then snapped the end of his key off trying to kick the Tranny forward enough to get the belt on. It was surprising how quickly he was able to hot wire the bike and get down the road.

Brad's chain jumped ship fucking up his Tranny 40 miles outside of Louisville. A big rig hauling a flat bed trailer with bar and shield mud flaps locked up the brakes to see if assistance was needed. The bike was loaded while the rest of the pack waited at the end of the next on ramp for the semi to come ripping by. We waited in the darkness for the sound of the air horn. Dave was not going to be late on getting his lady to work so it was high gear hammered down in the hammer lane. Turns out Brad and Dave knew a lot of the same people. The chain was pulled and we followed in the whom behind the rig at 85 miles an hour all the way to the river.

Wanna Party?

No matter the situation... you'll always be having a good time when Sean is around town. Unless of course we takes his shirt off.... then you know it's really getting serious. One of my favorites all the way around.... it's kind of weird... I always end up blowing chunks all over somebody's sidewalk when he is around.

We both found out first hand how rad the police are in Austin Texas. We hit the section in South Austin where 290 opens up to freeway. We both pinned our throttles back and before we knew it we had passed all of the traffic. It was just the two of us riding side by side well into the hundreds. I picked up a dark shadow creeping into my peripheral. I then realized it was a patrol car passing us then entering our lane right in front of us. Sean bailed quickly off the nearby exist. I couldn't swing it so I casually let off the throttle. I came to the realization that the cop was more impressed with our display than he was put off by it. He granted a thumbs up... not taking any chances I gabbed the next exist.

We actually met a few of them in a bar one night and found out a lot of them ride motorcycles. They have there own club called the Gun Slingers. They were not your typical Patrol Officer.

I love Austin

Bacon's New Shop

While I was in Austin I spent a lot of time with Bacon at his new shop. He's got a pile of motors going together at all times. I can't say I know another sole that eats, sleeps and breathes motorcycles they way he does. He only eats because he has to.... rarely sleeps and when he does he has conversations about Knuckleheads that are clear as day. Every morning at about 5:30 I'd hear his feet hit the floor and two seconds later he'd be nudging me saying... "hey... lets go to the shop!" as if he were a puppy ready to go for a walk. It's a trip spending time with him and wish it would happen more often.

Bacon's crazy valve set up

A handful of guys rode out from California. Brian went down at 85 mph. Him and Sean were getting on it when Brian's bike went into a speed wobble. Luckily he made it out alive with really only a torn up arm. Moreland was on his way out to hunt wild hogs in Texarkana so he grabbed Brian's and dropped it at the shop.

Sean and Rico discussing something really important I'm sure.

Cabin

Brian has moved on from the Lodge as well as Bravetown and is nestling himself into his own cozy little Cabin. It's something of a live/work space on the backside of Humboldt Park. His living room and shop merge into each one another and is washed with natural light and sweet city skyline scenery.

Uncle Jimmy

I spent a few days downtown last week. Bikes are getting buttoned up for a season of hard riding. Jerimiah put his Uncle Jimmy's shovelhead in gear for the first since he pasted away on it over 20 years ago. He headed down to Alabama for the DiCE Party this past weekend. The rest are shrink wrapping their last few wires before we ride to Kentucky for the Derby this coming weekend. You know shits gonna get out of hand down there.
