The Brooklyn Invitational

In all of my travels, I had not seen the New York Sky Line. I rolled in at about 1:00 am. Living in Chicago I'm often disappointed in the Sky Lines of the cities I visit. New York absolutely blew me away. Even though I had never been to NYC I had more friends there than I could count on all appendages. It was great to see a good handful of them and it was a pleasure to witness The Brooklyn Invitational. It's been a while since I've been to a show with such a great vibe. The East Coast has an amazing motorcycle scene driven by free thinkers and individuality. I had the best of times with old friends and met even more new friends from all over the world. See you all next year.

I've Missed Her So.......

She's the one that taught me so much. I've been getting a lot questions about her where abouts in the last few months. The Locust a still around and in mostly one piece but after all of the abuse I put her through she needs a lot of love. The Locust was never a finished bike be any means... and I still have a lot of things planned for her. The weather tuned nice and the wrenches were put down. In Northern Illinois there are two seasons.... Riding season and Building season. The plan was to finish her while I rode the Blackbird but found that it was hard enough to keep one old bike on the road let alone two and when the weather is decent you ride.... not wrench unless mandatory.

One day she will re-emerge

A kind of second childhood falls on so many men. They trade their violence for the promise of a small increase of life span, in effect, the head of the house becomes the youngest child. And I have searched myself for this possibility with a kind of horror. For I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I've lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment. I did not want to surrender fierceness for a small gain in yardage.

Irish Rich made a post about the beauty of extended original springers and this bike has been blowing red lights in my head ever since. Not to mention I really wanna hang out with this dude. Read Irish Rich's blog and educate yourself.
