Wil's new '69

Wil's at it again. Picked up this '69 from Chicago craigslist, he snuck in and got it before we had a chance. I'm sure he'll give it his flavor but I think he's starting to like those springs. Good on you friend.

shop nights

Some shots Alex took this weekend while hanging out at the shop. Rob and Petey fucking with Robs new pan, The youngsters molding Joe's 750 frame and the never ending party in the loft.

Sneak Shot

Had to post this.

He hates cameras and hates fame so I wont say his name.......

None the less his is a great guy. I remember following him back to his place late one night through some really curvy mountain roads. It was something out of a David Mann painting. He was jamm'n hard through the turns while smoking a cigarette and throwing sparks at us on the sharp curves!

Maiden Voyage!

Well..... after working on building my first bike day and night..... every waking hour for the last few months, I finally started it up and rhode it for the first time today. It is such an amazing feeling to operate something you have created with your own two hands no matter how shaky that first run is. The way I would describe my first run is if you could image yourself on the scariest roller coaster ride then multiplied that by 20! Now I have ridden more bikes than your average person will ride in a lifetime. This is because I have never owned my own bike. For the past three years I have pretty much been living on the road photographing different aspects of the motorcycling scene and for some reason people don't hesitate to let me ride they're bikes. It's pretty amazing to think back on all the different bikes I've gotten an opportunity to ride. I can't even remember a large majority of them. Some of them being very high dollar machines such as Discovery Channel Build Off bikes but more often than not it's the bike that has some weird issue I should watch out for. It's that bike that has been sitting in the conner of the shop for the last 10 years. I've rid'n just about everything and anything you can image and always seem to be able to hop on and ride the piss out of it...... stand up on it while taking pictures all the while......... but boys....... I have to admit...... I about pissed myself ridding this one. It was by far the scariest thing on two wheels I have ever experienced in my life.... but deep down I loved every minute of it! Call me a Sally..... call me what you will.

I'm dealing with a few issues that need to be ironed out. I've got negative trail. I'm going fuck around with my rockers tomorrow. I may need new bushing in the rockers as well. There's a few other bugs in the front end that I'll need to shake out as well. Besides that the fuck'n motor runs great! She's a one kicker when nobody is look'n.

I stole the front end off this bike. Super narrow..... by narrow I mean 2 and 3/4 inches clearance between the legs. I could only fit a 17 inch spooly and I had to grind down some bolts to keep them out of my spokes. It's narly!

stop it

I now call you Scotty Stopit. To the max. Stolen from cyclezombies blog.

Had to post Joe's comment on the Fat kid van

dude, this is incredible. this is the machine you want pulling up to your prom dates house. while you're inside with thunderbaked eyes getting the drill sargeant routine by her father, your friends are lounging in the back ripping the bong thats permanently installed behind the drivers seat. you can assure dad that his daughter will be back by 11, but this machine can't control when the parties actually going to end. This is like being able to ride in a righteous glove compartment, everything hidden in this machine is either really bad or really rad.

Joe, your visions are just that, visions.

Still finding em'

Shop bell rings and I go out to see who's there and Rob "you have a friend in metal" hultz is standing outside with this time machine. He got the word about this 1960 panhead sitting in a basement since 1972 and sure enough it was true. Story goes, the guy built it in 1970 and died in 1972, old lady puts it in the basement, old lady dies and kid inherits house, 2009 kid wants to sell the house and the bike. This next part is hard to believe but I swear it's true, the bike fires first kick and Rob rides it 8 miles to the shop. First run in 37 years. It has it's issues but this little piece of history is gonna see some great miles as it was intended to do in 1970. So don't give up, the gold mines are still out there. Pics by Alex Gvojic.

Two Wheeled Hopscotch

This is Mitch's Depiction of the events that occurred shortly after finding Jr's exhaust gasket on the Country Mile 2008. Warren's front exhaust pipe kept coming lose and on of these occasions the gasket took off in the wind like a sailing frisbee. Just so happens it was on a busy street. We all stopped and searched the ditches for a while and finally found it. I was searching via motorcycle and when it was finally located Brian hopped on my left side rear peg. I taxi'd him back to the congregation and when he decided he had enough, he hopped off. His first foot made good contact with the pavement but the following were a little out of sync. I remember his head hitting and pavement then the screeching of locked up cars tires shortly there after. It got really quiet for a second accept for the sound of his helmet rolling around on the pavement in front of the car. There was a kid in the passenger seat of the car peering over door frame with wild eyes and his mother was not as excited about what just happened. Brian walked away with a sprained wrist and a bruised ego but all was good cause the sun was shinning and we had many more miles to ride before we'd rest!

Shortly after the incident.

Flirtin With Disaster

Because we are.

Fridays flyin' by

One more meeting and off to the shop.

Rouser Works

Rob is one of the most animated guys you will ever meet. He lives life to the fullest and never looks back. Sometimes I wish I could have his attitude about life more often. I met him in Austin Texas about three years ago and he was so stoked that I appreciated his bike.

Rob made it through the Mexican mainland, across the Gulf of California, down through Baja, back up and just as he crossed back into the States he got run down by a car. I remember him saying something the night before like "shit.... I've made it this far without breaking down, crashing or getting killed" I told him he shouldn't be saying that shit to soon. He let my ride this bike through Ensenada the night before he got ran over on it. We rolled up on the accident just after he was taken away by the ambulance. He was out and about the next day assessing the damage to his bike.

Team Kemosabe

Here you go Josh, I felt bad for cutting you out of the other picture.

regrets

My pals Joe, Alex and Chad have just returned from maxing out the streets of fire in Brooklyn. There tales of wine and women have left me kicking myself for not getting in the van. Second weekend in a row I bailed on them and NYC. I won't let you guys down again. Thanks for the picture taking device Alex, I will help you achieve your dreams.

Gravel roads and a setting sun

It doesn't matter how busy I am..... I always make it a point to hop on the bike and ride into the setting sun. A hard ridden solo run on the most deserted roads I can find. I've gotten bored with the paved roads in my area. Deklab County is set up in a grid of corn and bean fields and the roads follow the grid. 90 percent of them are straight and when you hit the end, there's a 90 degree turn. So I ride what gravel is left. It's fun and in the spring they are quite unpredictable.

I've been having really vivid dreams this past week. A few days ago I dreamed that I was headed down this road, only I was traveling in the opposite direction. It was pitch black and just after the lonely silo I rolled up on a rolled over car. It flipped about a hundred feet into the field. The first was a teenage boy but all I could see were his legs, face up with the roof the car laying on the upper half of his body. The blood ran like a river in the rut of the tractor tire that recently planted corn there. I followed the river of blood to two females one laying face up and the other laying face down. It was one of those dreams where you wake up have to decide if what just happened was real or just a dream.

I figured I'd check that spot out. I didn't stop........ just passed by at 85 mph.

The next day I had a nightmare were I was roofied, shaved then dropped at my front door. Both the UPS and FedX men delivered packages that day and left them lying next to me. That's a whole other story I wont get into.

Snake Road was pretty narly. They must have just recently layed down new gravel. It was extremely hard to keep the bike up at any speed. It crosses the same set of tracks three times. I like to jump one of the crossings Dukes of Hazzard style!

bros

There is nothing better to me than riding in two's. Neck n neck on bikes that you built, know and trust inside and out. No worrying about who's keeping up or who's not dialed in, simply getting everything you ever wanted out of building and riding motorcycles. I know Matt and Caleb are those kinda friends and I appreciate every chance I get to ride with them. I'm all about doing the whole biker thing, getting crazy and a little stupid but it is really refreshing to ride with guys like Matt and Caleb who truly enjoy what their doing and can have an intelligent, well spoken conversation. Guys like that inspire me to keep creating period, not just bikes but in every aspect of life. Both of these guys have put out open invites to myself and many others passing through, And I always get more than a place to lay my head outta the deal. I am proud to call them friends and I look forward to a sun soaked ride through the canyons of Malibu with them soon. Real talk.

Back from the Dead

We all met at the shop and passed the Bro cap around to raise the cheddar with Peteys boss to make Petey's bail and I finally got the call around midnight. "Freedom, you know who this is"? " I'm on my way, where you at"? "bus stop by the popeyes chicken, bring smokes". So I high tail it down to County jail and there's Petey in some hand me down sweats and no laces. All smiles. Big hugs and love. Fed him, clothed him, laughed our asses off. Nothing phases Petey. Split skull, handcuffed to a hospital bed and two days in County and all he's talking about is some club members he hooked up with and some clubhouse party we gotta go to and what's up with my bike. Ran him out to the scene to grab his goods from the bar and thank his buddies for picking his limp body outta the gutter. Good to have our friend back, but I don't think it's changed him a bit. Just kept saying "whatever bro, I'm Slippery Pete, they can't get rid of me that easy". This was his 16th wreck and he's still doing it harder than anybody I know. Love you buddy, no matter what.

Watch them intersections!

Just talked to Warren Jr. up in Milwaukee and he just bounced off the driver's side door of some bonehead's steel cage. She was passing in an intersection....... Warren locked up the rear and taco'd the front on impact. He managed to keep the bike up. The chick gave him a frown and yelled "what the fuck" through the glass and keep on drive'n. Warren thought to himself "what the fuck" and limped home.
