Handsome Charlie Ransom

Whether he knows it or not..... Charlie has taught me a lot about riding a motorcycle. I first met him at the Myrtle Beach Rally in 2007. I remember very vividly how he would maneuver his bike through a crowd of people in the Broken Spoke parking lot. He could whip that thing around in such a tight space..... most people thought he was about to run them over thinking that there was no possible way he would be able to make the turn. We were both camped out there for the week so I spent a lot of time watching him ride. It's all in the body language. I had never seen a motorcycle ridden with such fluidity. I took mental notes the entire week and when I got home it just all made perfect sense. Still to this day I love to watch him ride and I learn something new every time.

Thanks Charlie

Lapland Hunting

Slippery Pete

He has been described as a tiny monster with a mouth that spews a never ending waterfall of filth. This may be true but he is a loyal man when it comes to his friends and his family. So much in fact that he is willing to sell his bike to help keep a roof above his parents head. This is a strong running shovel and I know this because I've ridden many miles along side it. This is a relatively fresh motor considering it was only run for one Chicago Riding Season minus the 30 days he spent in the hole. He wants 8Grand no more and no less. Peter does not own a computer so if interested contact him directly by phone..... Slippery Pete 312.720.9383 and watch out for that water fall of filth.

Film

I have the greatest respect for the photographers that continue to shoot film. I was fortunate enough to begin my education spending countless hours in a darkroom then ending it sitting behind a computer with the infiltration of the digital SLR. I was forced to be educated in both mediums. There is something to be said for the people that submerge their hands in a tray of fixer. It is my opinion that there is a higher level of love put into each and every shot when shooting film. Each click of the shutter is another coin that has found it's way through the hole in a nearly empty pocket. The utmost care is taken to make sure each shot will potentially be worthy enough to be snipped and projected to light sensitive paper for display on a gallery wall. Prospective, line, light, focus, reflection, aperture, shutter speed, exposure.....etc.etc..etc. are all things carefully calculated before even considering pulling the dark slide and releasing the shutter. What has become of us? I miss the sole and I miss the love....... digital has corroded the value of the images we consume, barrow and steal on a minute to minute basis to keep our electronic minds in order.

Gears are gone..... the mind is outdated.... originality is rare...... and what's stolen is yours.

The Cost of Living

" I told the judge," said Jack Lilly, "that I couldn't pay the fifty dollar fine. It'll take four weeks to make that much if I don't eat or buy gas!"

Rob Galan

I never really know when or where I am going to run into him but it's always a pleasant surprise. From Mexico to New York I've ran into there and everywhere in between. He is one of the true Free Spirits I know.

He now has the right to punch everyone of you....

Marty Claus

Christmas came early this year. I heard a rapping at the door and found a gift box hand packaged by the one and only Roadside Marty lying on the door step. I don't think ol' Saint Nick can top this. Two shaved legs and a partridge in a Raked Tripple Tree.

So perfect! We were discussing bike builds in Sturgis. I mentioned how much my extended 33mm front end sucked big hairy testicles and that I planned on deraking my neck a little bit and running 41mm tubes in a set of raked narrow trees to get the same stance but correct trail. Even better is the fact that the plates are bent to create the rake rather than diagonally drilled holes. This means that I wont have to reconstruct my handlebars to keep them at the same angle as the gas tank after deraking the neck on my frame.

Marty... I can't thank you enough.

Marty is one of the greatest guys you would ever want to meet.... unless he doesn't like you.... then you're fucked

But if he likes you he loves you.... and will do anything for a friend..... I'm glad I can call him a friend.

Check out the fantastic Pan he is building. Flat Broke

Dance hall girls were the evenin' treat
Empty cartridges and blood lined the gutters of the street
Men were shot down for the sake of fun
Or just to hear the noise of their forty-four guns
And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there

Pow Wow

It was another one of those weekends in Chicago. Last week I rolled in with no plans and rolled out with stories to tell...... or maybe just to remember. I was the only one to make it back to The Lodge while Mtich and Brian got lost in action. My phone was ringing at 7am.... I had no intentions on answering it. Listening to my messages revealed that Mitch woke up in the wooded lot next door to Bravetown.... also know as the infamous Hooker Hill back in the day. I'm not quite sure how he didn't freeze to death.

The next day we regathered... put on our city shoes and attended a Native American Pow Wow at Navy Pier.
